question for my tattooed friends: is it totally abnormal for a part of the tattoo ink to flare up and swell? i've had this tattoo for over 3 years, so it's not new.

why am i putting myself through this?
it's only food...
and it's a clean slate...
but augh! no DAIRY? no WHEAT? i can deal without meat, but this involves living like a vegan AND not having any wheat or gluten products. i found myself starting aimlessly at the "wheat and gluten free" section of my local whole foods market, and not wanting to buy anything. gluten free cookies? does that sound appetizing?
i remember when my last roommate started her elimination diet, and i scoffed. now i took the plunge! am i an LA girl or what.

J. and I walked off our mac and cheese casserole dinner by 'cruising' Hwood Blvd. tonight, and walking straight to...Mashti Malone's to get a giant scoop of ice-cream each! However, J., the lovable geek that he is, came home and immediately found a map to determine how many blocks we walked. 34.

I have been in a smallish rut lately. The math class is like *points finger-gun to head*. The routine is tedious: drive 45 minutes to class, spend 15 minutes parking, spend 2 and a half hours in class, spend 2 hours in the math lab, drive home for 60 minutes, collapse, dream of endless pages of numbers multiplying themselves wake up, and endure all over again. So much for math.
The home life points to a rut as well. J. is wonderful. No, it's the TEEVEE! I feel as though the math-less brain cells I have left are too tired to resist episode after episode of WhateverCrapIsOn.
Oh, whine.

I've been slowly intensifying the diversity in my life, though. For instance, tomorrow we're going bike riding around Hollywood. And today, I read 50 pages of a book that had NOTHING TO DO WITH SCHOOL! Egad.

The exercise situation is kind of rotten. Not counting our walks, I really don't do anything. I want to hop on gina's exercise train more often, but busy-ness always gets me. However, I have to remember, that in our neighborhood, we never drive, so in a given week, we can walk up to 2-5 miles a DAY just running errands.
BUT once I file my tax return, I can sign up for my local Y under a financial aid membership, and then I will really get going on this whole 'lose weight, get fit, fix my back' quest.

So, my family bought me a brand new laptop (even though I don't deserve it), and yesterday my dad bought me MS Office to install and I threw it in the empty box the laptop came in...and then I forgot. AND THREW THE BOX OUT. They've already taken out the trash, and I'm positive the MS Office box was in there. I feel like a loser. I don't have another 150 dollars to spend on MS Office, and I absolutely can't ask for my dad for another one, obviously.

Can anyone help me? Does anyone have any copies? Please? I WILL PAY YOU FOR THEM.

Day of the Dead/Hollywood Forever: 10/29

I will be attending the Day of the Dead festival at the Hollywood Forever cemetery this year. It is on October 29th, from 4-11pm. Strolling the cemetery is free, ticket for the Lila Downs concert is $30.

I am going.
Who is coming with me?
I have room in my car, even.

J. and I are going to paint skeleton faces on each other and go as a skeleton couple. And there's my costume this year.

One thing I don't understand is this: they can't make you pay $30 to walk around the cemetery. So, if you HAPPEN to stay for the concert, aren't you hearing $30 worth of music?

Ok, so a long time ago, I was part of a Rocky Horror cast, and just as long ago, I auditioned to shadowcast the part of Columbia. If I had gotten the role, I doubt I would still be a part of the cast, but back then, she meant everything. I started dancing when I was 15 or so with a company called Swing Shift in Manhattan Beach. I actually got quite good, and for a while became totally obsessed. Like, I had to go to ALL the dances, EVERY week, I HAD to have ALL the clothes, etc. I even dated someone just as obsessed as I was. Then, life caught up with me, meaning money caught up with me, and I couldn't afford to take classes anymore. Not that it mattered, because I didn't have time to go dancing :( I still don't, and I miss it like crazy. I also must really suck now.

Weegee is a pen name for a photographer in film noir Hollywood. He was never officially a crime scene photographer, but you could get away with a lot back then, and he had a knack for snapping pictures of say, a murder scene like RIGHT after it happened. So yeah, a good amount of his photos are gruesome at worst and morbid at best. That's not all he did though, I mean he also took pictures of celebrities and his work is a pretty good sociological study of that time period, but that was what he was most famous for.

I'm in the process of moving and had an hour of killtime before we pick up the pickup.
I know every time my back hurts I say it is the worst pain yet, but this time I really feel that it is the worst pain yet. I can't STOP, so I figure I will just fuck my back up as much as it can be fucked up, and rehabilitate next week because I have no choice.
This pain is ruining the memory of the wonderful night I had last night and the excitement I feel this morning.
